While running the numbers on my retirement strategy, got hit with something I didn't fully account for and its this alternative minimum tax thingy. On paper my plan looked smooth and it was just basically living off a mix of taxable investments, some roth conversions, and keeping expenses lean enough to stretch the runway. But once I started modeling withdrawals and conversions, AMT crept in and threw the tax picture off. Mind you, I'm not against paying my share, but it's frustrating when what should be a fairly simple retire early, draw down carefully plan ends up getting tangled in tax code spaghetti.
Are there ways I can smoothen this out or do I just accept my fate at this point?
Tnx
