I have always hated the idea of having debt and I told myself I would never get a mortgage. But now I am looking at the numbers, and they are hard to ignore.

I would still rather be debt-free but I have to admit that the financial side of things is a big factor. It seems like the best move financially might be to take on a mortgage even though I don't like debt. This is a tough decision for me.

Do you think being debt-free is more important than the financial gains you can make with a loan?

Living without debt brings a sense of security, whereas having a mortgage can open doors to tax advantages and the chance for investment gains. It's important to think about your financial objectives and how much risk you're comfortable with. While a mortgage with a low interest rate might have its perks, you should really assess what matters most to you and your future plans

Choosing how to finance is personal, and there's no single right choice. Your feelings about owing money are real, so listen to them. Even if the numbers say a mortgage is the way to go, your peace of mind matters too. Don't let numbers totally drown out what you believe is right.
