I managed to pay off my $110k mortgage in just five years! I opted to focus on knocking out that debt instead of diving into the ups and downs of the stock market. Looking back, I suspect I might have missed out on somewhere between $25,000 to $40,000 in potential gains, especially since my 5% mortgage rate was pretty low compared to what the market was throwing out at the time. But even with that cost in mind, there's something incredibly liberating about being free from a mortgage. Now, I can invest a bigger chunk of my paycheck, which just feels awesome :)

This is such a great power move. Even if you could've flipped into bigger gains investing, you're now sitting on liquidity and can reinvest aggressively. Maybe split your post-mortgage cash... hit retirement accounts, build an emergency fund, and then tuck some into the market. Balance beats that FOMO.

Nice, the psychological and financial freedom you gain often outweighs the opportunity cost, and now you can deploy that cash flow more strategically into investments with a clearer plan and higher risk tolerance

Congrats! I think being mortgage-free is a massive win, and the peace of mind often outweighs any missed market gains
