I've been weighing this for a while now and could use some input, I'm thinking about dropping my Medicare supplement and just using VA healthcare instead. I qualify for VA benefits and have used them a few times with no complaints, but I'm wondering if it's worth keeping that extra monthly expense for the supplement. Pros, cons, regrets? would love to hear what others in retirement have done. I'm 70 and I dont want to have to stress too much

VA healthcare can be great but honestly it might not cover everything that Medicare does. It's really hard and I'm so sorry you're faced with a difficult decision at 70, but this is going to help in the long run. I suggest you stay here in this forum and read more before jumping the gun.

I get what you mean, this is tough. I've had good experiences with VA care too but kept my extra insurance after a health scare a few years ago. I ended up in a regular ER for something out of the blue, and without that extra coverage, the bill would've been a nightmare.

Yep, stick around, ask questions, and don't rush into anything. When you're 70, feeling secure is as important as saving money. Hope you find the answer that works for you. You're not the only one trying to figure this out.
