When do I get into Medicare?

I'm turning the big 6-5 in August (cue the confetti and colonoscopies)

I've heard you need to sign up for Medicare three months early or is it not?? Is it also three full months, or just government math? Please help a confused future senior out

Happy early 65, and yup you've got a 7 month window to sign up for Medicare: three months before your birthday month, the month of, and three after. But if you want coverage to kick in on time, definitely aim for three months before mark. It's real time, not weird government math (for once).

Thanks, that clears it up, I guess I'll make sure to sign up three months early, I don't need any delays with that.
