Starting the search for a CCRC

I’ve recently started looking into continuing care retirement communities as part of my early retirement planning, and I didn’t expect it to feel this overwhelming. There’s a lot to consider like location, type of contract, cost structure, level of care offered, and how well the community actually fits my lifestyle. Some places have great amenities but feel too structured and others offer more independence but seem to lack a strong sense of community. I want to find a balance between having support available down the line and still keeping a lot of flexibility in the earlier years
What advice, suggestions or insights do you have?, i would appreciate

Visit a few communities and spend a full day there if you can, meals, activities, and just seeing how residents interact, then probably talk to current residents, they’ll give the real picture on flexibility and social life, which you won’t get from brochures

Pay close attention to contract details too, future care costs, and how flexible they are as your needs change
